From 2011 to 2014 four biggies, namely, Elsevier BV, Springer-Nature, Wiley-Blackwell and Informa UK Limited had average market share of 23.4%, 11.1%, 7% and 5.1% respectively. In the year 2014 Elsevier BV, Springer Nature, Wiley-Blackwell, Informa UK Limited and Trans Tech Publications published 570398, 274936, 152588, 120250 and 58911 articles respectively. World’s top 15 publishers cumulatively published 1539950 articles, which is roughly 63.5% of total published articles in 2014 (i.e. 2423122 articles).

In that time several journals from new publishers as well reputed publishers could not sustain the fierce competition in journal publication industry.
